Karder Bill and Jarrit James Byers

Ashley went into labor at 12:30 am Tuesday morning. Josh called me at 2:00 and said that Ashley was in alot of pain and needed her mom now! So I rushed right over. Dad and Elroy Huff came about 2:30 and gave her a blessing. Josh asked me to drive Ashley while he grabed a few things from home. Ashley was in a lot of pain. I was a nervous wreck. I was feeling everyone of her pains. I kept thinking "so this is what Bill felt like" It was weird being on the other end. I got to the emergency room at St Lukes and went in and told them that I had my daughter in the van. She is 33 weeks pregnant with twins and in alot of pain. 5 nurses ran out, put her in a wheelchair and whisked her off to labor and delivery. The doctor came into check her. They wanted to see if there was any chance these babies could be born without c section. He checked her and said "Ummm she is dialated to an 8 and I feel a babies bottom. Labor and delivery came alive. A whole team of people came. They had the babies born in 5 minutes. The doctor told us afterwords that she was only a couple of minutes away from delivering those babies breech.
Kader Bill was born first. He weighed 4 lb 3 oz 17 1/4 inches long. He is perfectly healthy. He is tiny and very layed back and calm.
Jarrit James was born second. He weighed 4 lb 9 oz 17 1/2 inches long. His lungs were not developed enough. He is having alot of respritory distress. They had him on oxygen to start with. And then they put him on a c pap machine. Like they use for people that have sleep apnia. Today he was doing worse. It was wearing him out and he was crying alot. So the doctor told them to intubate him. 3 resperitory therapist, an RN and a doctor worked together and intubated him (put a tube into his lungs to breath for him) and then they gave him some serfacton. Serfacton is used to help the lungs develop faster. The doctor thinks he will be breathing much better after this.

Who you are~Hilary Weeks

I have found a radio station that I can listen to on the computer all day long. Pandora Radio, it is free. I typed in Hilary Weeks. It plays a whole bunch of songs from different artist from the church. Beautiful and uplifting songs. I dont even like listening to normal radio anymore. My favorite song is from Hilary Weeks from her Collection Album. It is entitled "Who You Are". You will know why after you read these lyrics. Enjoy!
I know you wonder if you'll ever have a day when the kids stay clm, the laundry's done, and the dishes are put away. And sometimes you feel like your days are spent and gone and the question running through your mind is what have I gotten done? and when you finally have a moment to slow down at the end of you day I know Father would say
Believe in what you're doing
Believe in who you are
Hold tight to the truth that you're a daughter of God
Believe in who you're becoming
Believe in who you are
It may seem simple - all the little things you do But the lives you touch matter so much. And there's no one else like you. And Father needs you to stand tall and faithful to be all you can be.Oh, if you could see what he sees. When it's hard to believe in yourself and you feel like you're beginning to doubt Remember
He believes in what you're doing
He believes in who you are
Don't lose sight of the truth that you're a daughter of God
That he believes in who you're becoming
He believes in who you are.

Ashley's babyshower

Cassandra and I put on a babyshower for Ashley, January 10. Cassandra used all the hours of preparation as one of her 10 hour projects for young womens. We sent out almost 80 invitations. We had 36 people come to the shower. As well as having 4 people come before the shower and drop off gifts. They couldnt stay because of prior commitments. We have also recieved many phone calls from people saying that they couldnt attend the shower but will be bringing something by for her.
We had lots of fun. My sister in law, Valerie Stokes, came up with some fun games for us. Ashley opened her gifts and then we ate some yummy cookies that people brought to share. I think everyone had a good time. Ashley has a very good start now for her little boys. I would say that the shower was a big success!
Ashley went to the doctor last week and he told her that one of the babys was 4 pounds the other one is 3.5 pounds. They are growing and healthy. She is 31 weeks along now. We are VERY excited that everything is going so well.
As soon as Ashley gets the pictures of the shower to me I will post them on here for everyone to see.

Our Christmas

The day before Christmas and Christmas Eve was spent at the hospital with Bill's dad. He has pneumonia. That along with his age and dementia he is growing weaker every day. We were able to get him home for Christmas. That made everyone happy. The day after Christmas we had a Christmas party at his house. He sat with everyone and sang Christmas songs. It was wonderful to see and hear. He is such a big part of our lives. It is hard to see him go through all of this. But he is in no pain. This is a big blessing.
Christmas was a lot fun this year. It was our "practical" Christmas. We got alot of things we needed (clothes, socks, etc.) along with a few wants. I think it was our best Christmas ever. It made it that way because it wasnt all about the presents this year. It was about family. ALL of my children were home. Ashley and Josh came on Christmas eve and spent the night. With this house full of people we still got to sleep in until 8:00! I was excited about that! We opened our presents and then spent the morning in our pajamas playing games. Wayne and Malya Forsberg and their 3 youngest came over for lunch. It was so nice to be home with my family, talking and playing games. It snowed all day which made it even better.
I had to take down our Christmas tree Saturday. It was all dried out. But I left up all of the other decorations. They are just to pretty to take down. I think I may leave them up through January. January is such a boring time of the year. We could use a little festivity.

Cassandra Won!!!

Cassandra's basketball team took first place in their district tournament last night. They played Marsing. Marsing had not lost a game all year. Our girls played like their lives depended on it. Cassandra fouled out the last 30 seconds of the game. They played hard. They won 24-17. It was a close game the whole time.
When they got off the freeway they were met by our fire department. They escorted them back into town with their lights and sirens on. They did a little tour through the town. Fire department with their sirens and the girls screaming out the bus windows, and parents following behind honking their horns. People that have lived here a long time know what that means. Someone has won an important game. Usually State for the high school. But for the Middle School they dont have state. They only have districts. For those that havent lived here very long, they wonder if the world is coming to an end. All part of living in a small town. I love it!
So the girls will have their picture taken and put on a plaque. It will be hung in the trophy case right next to their trophy. They are super excited.
